Biesecker Family
The Biesecker Family can be traced back to Germany in the 1600's. But our greatest honor is to be able to document this family line to Nicholas Biesecker who served in the Revolutionary war. It is through him that the Biesecker descendants attached to this site are members (or in the process) of The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
We have taken much time and care to verify what we have concluded as the ancestry of this line. We had to in order to satisfy the DAR requirements. There are a number of researchers who have John (son of Jacob) with two different wives. In our research we can see why people would pick one over the other. But we have managed to find enough documentation to prove that his wife was Hannah Marie Heagy, daughter of George and Sarah (Dunwoody) Heagy. For example we have Hannah Marie's baptism record, a newspaper clipping re: her marriage to John, and she is named in her father's will as "intermarried with John Besecke".
Another mystery to solve was to connect John Henry (pictured above) to his parents. We have census records, but as John Henry is a somewhat common name, we needed more. The photograph is of John Henry's sons Raymond and Ralph. On the back was the following:

After much research the people listed were confirmed as related to James A. and Nancy Elizabeth Biesecker, John Henry's parents. One thing to clarify is that "Aunt Hatti" was the sister of Nancy Elizabeth Biesecker, not John Henry's sister Harriet or "Hattie". She died in 1888 of typhoid fever. But it has just recently been discovered that she gave birth to a son in 1887. We are of the belief that he was Howard Biesecker, who was reported to be the son of James A. and Nancy in the newspaper reports of his death. He was 15 years old, and killed by a train. Subsequent newspaper reports did clarify him as Nancy Biesecker's grandson.

Sources for primary Biesecker family members: This family tree began with a box of old photographs passed down through Serita Biesecker. Unfortunately her father, Raymond Biesecker, and her mother separated when she was a young girl. So our search delved into census records, baptism, marriage, and death records, oral and written history, and newspaper articles. All of which we have copies in our possession.
UPDATE March 29, 2015 - Recently our cousin Helen Schlueter informed us of errors in our 2nd generation. She is in possession of the documentation to prove these errors, and we have adjusted our research to reflect her wonderful research.
